Information stored on your device

SunCarta stores one active project in browser local storage. It can include a selected coordinate, place label, time zone, orientation, obstacle dimensions and window dimensions. That storage remains on the device and browser profile unless you clear it, reset the demo or a future sharing feature asks you to transmit it explicitly.

SunCarta does not currently create user accounts, synchronize projects between devices or publish project URLs.

Location permission

SunCarta requests browser location only when you press “Use my location.” Your browser controls the permission. The coordinate is used to place the point and calculate the sun. The current release does not send it to a SunCarta account because accounts do not exist.

Direct latitude/longitude entry and map placement do not require location permission.

Place search

When you submit a place search, the completed query is sent to SunCarta’s same-origin `/api/geocode` endpoint. The endpoint validates and normalizes the request, forwards it to the configured Photon-compatible geocoding provider and returns a limited, sanitized set of candidate coordinates and labels. Repeated normalized queries can be cached at Cloudflare’s edge, while responses sent to the browser are marked not to be stored by browser or intermediary caches.

The geocoding provider and Cloudflare may receive standard request information such as IP address, request time and browser headers under their own policies. SunCarta does not send each keystroke and does not use the search endpoint for bulk geocoding. Do not submit confidential personal information as a place query.

Map tiles and external source links

The interactive map requests style and tile resources from OpenFreeMap and its underlying providers. Opening an external source or methodology link sends a normal browser request to that site. Those services can receive standard network and browser information under their policies.

Analytics, advertising and consent

The initial release does not require behavioral advertising cookies. If analytics or advertising is enabled later, SunCarta will update this policy and add the consent behavior required for the visitor’s region before loading nonessential vendors. Ads must remain outside map controls, calculation results and primary actions.

Security, retention and deletion

Clear the browser’s site data or use the planner reset control to remove the local project. Edge caches for submitted place searches contain the normalized search query and bounded provider response for the declared cache period; they do not contain a SunCarta account identifier.

Contact and changes

Privacy questions can be reviewed through the Contact page. No direct contact email is published. Material changes will update the reviewed date and will not silently convert locally stored projects into public pages.
